TURKEY

Incredible antiquities in Constantinople: the beautiful Hagia Sophia with it’s amazing dome built in 537, Roman ruins like the Basilica Cistern, the Topkapi Palace of the Ottoman sultans. After sundown: sardines wrapped in grape leaves, cucumber cocktails and delicious Turkish baklava. Istanbul is one of the great cities of the world, and I would gladly return.

Then, incredible beauty along the Aegean coast south of Dilek National Park. At Ephesus, the sun was scorching and sizzling our skin. In Bodrum, we swam in water so clear it looked like the boat floated on blue air. At the fourth beach of Dilik National Park, we had delicious lunch with an interesting and friendly group of waiters, looking a mile across to the Greek island of Samos.
